Bio

Buie was born in Kitchener, Ontario. He is the eldest of six brothers. He graduated with a B. A. in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario followed by a year at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, California. The late Nina Foch of Beverly Hills served as his most influential acting coach. His film and television career began as a production assistant to Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Jeffrey Boam (Lethal Weapon) on The Adventures of Briscoe County Jr. at Warner Brothers studio.

His television and film career began in Vancouver, Canada where he guest starred in numerous series and MOWs and including For the Love of Nancy, Millenium, The Outer Limits, Street Time, Wonderfalls and This is Wonderland. Later in television, he had a TNT series lead in the police drama Hard Time opposite Charles Durning and Burt Reynolds. Most recently, he guest starred on NBC’s Prime Suspect and CBS’s Hawaii Five-0 and is currently recurring in Grey’s Anatomy on ABC.

Disney’s hockey film Mystery, Alaska directed by Jay Roach and written by David E. Kelley was Buie’s first big break in feature film. He played Connor Banks, the best player in the tiny northern town of Mystery, opposite Russell Crowe. In Paul Haggis’ thrilling drama The Next Three Days starring Elizabeth Banks and Liam Neeson, Buie worked again with Crowe, this time as his brother Mick Brennan with veteran Brian Dennehy playing their father. Other films include Cedar Rapids (d. Miguel Arteta) with Ed Helms and John C Reilly, the Nantucket based film Ropewalk and Bradley Buecker’s debut film Moon Garden. Most recently, Buie has received accolades for his work as the reclusive father in Blackbird directed by Jason Buxton who won the Claude Jutra Award for his work. The film won Best First Canadian Feature at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival.

In the summer of 2012, Buie directed a music video for The Trews entitled If You Wanna Start Again on a lake north of Montreal, Quebec.

Buie resides in Marina Del Rey, California.
